We're Going on a Mission!

Salli's Divorce Support Blog

I haven't blogged for the longest time on my LDS divorce support site - lots has been happening at our house since last spring!

Last March Ken and I took a leap of faith, placed our house on the market, and put our papers in for a full-time mission. Our house sold in nine days (on general conference Sunday) and before we knew it - our call had arrived in the mail!

We are entering the MTC on September 9th and will be serving a 23 month Family History mission in (drum roll here......)

We are super excited and have spent all our waking hours since June in preparing to leave; blogging has been the last thing on my mind, consequently.

The good news is that senior missionaries have much more freedom in how to spend their time than the younger elders and sisters, so hopefully once the dust settles in Phnom Penh, I'll get back to connecting with my single adult friends at SunnyDawn.com.

In the meantime, thank you for your support and kind comments over the past few years as I have tried, in my own small way, to bless the lives of my favorite LDS demographic - YOU! I have such a heart for the divorced members of the church and have a unique perspective since moving beyond the seemingly dismal failure of a broken marriage; since I have found a better place for my personal growth and happiness, it is not a surprise that I now find myself preparing for a full-time mission. What a dream come true!

In parting tonight, I would just like to state my convictions of the truthfullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ as offered through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have taken my troubles to the Lord throughout my life, I have poured my heart out to Him on many occasions, and I have waited long years to hear His confirming approval. Through my patience and faith, I have come to a depth of testimony that completely supports my determination, now, to leave my life behind and serve in whatever capacity He decides.

I love the Lord Jesus Christ and count it a privilege to be one among a legion of righteous children who happily place my trust in Him. Every sorrow I have endured is nothing to the joy of my knowlege of our Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ. It will be a true honor to beTheir full-time servant over the next several months.

Talk to you soon!
