How to Begin After Divorce? Channel Your Energy!

Salli's Divorce Support Blog

Being married and then divorcing can take all the wind out of your sails for awhile. My worst health and my most depleted-energy-days all seemed to happen when I was transitioning from being married to being divorced.

Perhaps it was because the learning curve of singleness was new to me--and thus exhausting.

Maybe, in part, it was because I suddenly carried the full load of all responsibilities related to home and children.

Likely, it was also related to the fact that when you are divorced, and scared about the future, it can drain you of a lot of your joy, ambition, and focus.

But I saw a quote by one of my favorite authors, today, that reminded me of what it took to finally get back up on top of the game when I divorced:

"No stream or gas drives anything until it is confined. No Niagara is ever turned into light and power until it is tunneled. No life ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated and disciplined."
~Harry E. Fosdick

Though burdened today, trust that the day will dawn when you'll begin to have a little more energy, a tad more enthusiasm, and even some excitement about what the future can hold for you. And when that new lust for life begins to grow inside, channel it! Find a focus worthy of your attention and then focus on it with laser-like precision.

I promise there is life after divorce!
