Speaking of Positive Affirmations...

Salli's Divorce Support Blog

After I remarried, 6 1/2 years ago, and Ken and I moved from Portland, Oregon to Madison, Wisconsin ("Clicking on a Miracle" see our Product Page for more details!), I decided to write a list of events and ambitions I wanted to have happen in my life. I took the task very seriously: I prayed about it, composed the phrases thoughtfully, edited it, then memorized it.

Newly married after my divorce, I felt the desire to redefine myself!

So, on my daily walks, in that startlingly beautiful part of the country (flat farmland for as far as the eye could see, dotted with little red barns and silo minarets...), I would repeat my thoughtfully composed affirmations outloud. One of them was (still is...), "My writing is recognized 'round the world with affection and admiration!"

Of course, at the time, I'd never written anything more than a Sacrament meeting talk that anyone ever heard. But yesterday, when I got online to check my Googleanalytics (which tracks this website's traffic), I saw that someone in Moscow had googled, "LDS married divorce support", and found SunnyDawn.com. They stayed for 16.5 minutes!

My prayer is that it was 16.5 minutes that encouraged and uplifted that person.

But point being, I sent something out into the universe 6 1/2 years ago with the hopeful intention that it would somehow come to pass, and now people in Moscow (and India, and London, and Senegal, as well as others all over the U.S.) are reading the things that I write about divorce, and how divorce feels with children, as well as the joy to be experience when you remarry after divorce, and that's amazing!

So, the question becomes: Now that you are divorced, what do you want to intend in your life over the next few years?

As my NYC born-and-bred husband would say, "The world's your oyster!"
